Mother's Day Gift?

For an inexpensive present for my mother-in-law and mom I was thinking of getting some kind of nice plants or roses, representing each child they had. That would be 4 for mother-in-law and 2 for my mom. What you think? That sound thoughtful or do I need something else?

What is good gift for transplant patient in hospital?

I imagine says they have to be so careful of germs that plants are not allowed in their rooms. Any suggestions?

What is good gift for transplant patient in hospital?
No flowers, plants, store bought candy, stuffed animals or cards please.

Fresh fruit, flowers, plants, or cut flowers are barred from the patient's room, as these can carry disease-causing molds and bacteria. Because of the fact that the patient will be immunosuppressed, even a small amount of a pathogen might cause a life threatening condition for him/ her. I met a lady at my transplant clinic who had a kidney as well as a liver transplant. She had contracted some infection from somewhere (in spite of being very careful) and had a fever for 2 months! So you need to be careful.

In fact, if you are genuinely concerned, do not even visit the patient. Persons with symptoms of any type of communicable infection should not provide care or visit. Even if you do not exhibit symptoms like fever or coughing, many a times our bodies are "carriers" to diseases, and this can be harmful to the patient.

There are a couple of things that you can do though.

1) Call the patient or his primary care giver as often as you can. Talk to the patient, in person before and on the phone after the transplant, encouraging him or her. Lend your support - a ride to or from the hospital for additional family members maybe. Family members of the patient need help and support too.

2) There is always e-mail. Write as much as you want. Send the patient e-cards. Chat on Yahoo messenger if you can.

I received my transplant last year and I did not go out of my home much for 3-4 months. I did receive beautiful flowers (from friends who had no idea) but sadly, had to dispose them off. Most of my friends talked to me over the phone and to my family members when I was in surgery. I did not receive any visitors for a long time, but it was wonderful to talk to everyone and contact people over the internet.

Good Luck to your friend!
Reply:Cards and balloons are always nice.
Reply:just a card and if allowed a plant or fresh flowers, it will brighten their day regardless
Reply:well, the best gift that you could really give this person is support and care. Just visting if you can, would probably be the best thing for them. Also, plants are really good...some kind of plant like a fern or something that can be good for filtering oxygen and such would be great, and a card couldn't hurt either.
Reply:A good book,a gift certificate,a box of candy,an offer to bring a favorite food, favorite magazines to name a few.
Reply:Flowers and a personal visit. Flowers promote a cheery atmosphere and require no care and go away in about a week. This is especially good for those who aren't yet able to care for themselves. Don't go cheap. If you can't afford a dozen roses, send 3 in a nice arrangement of more common and cheaper flowers. Just make sure to ask if the recipient has any allergies. If allergies present a problem or you really can't afford them, start a get well card writing campaign and have friends and family all send cards. Then visit and read them so the patient knows how much they are cared for.
Reply:Just the gift of life.

My wife had a liver transplant back in 1999, and she died in 2004. All she ever wanted was thoses extra years so we could be together.

I Love You Suzan!! RIP Hun.

I Need a Gift Suggestion for...?

I would like recommendations for my favorite garden center employee. She's great! She answer every question patiently and frankly,. I appreciate what she brings to the workplace. Of course, she has access to all types of plants and garden things so, I was wondering if you all would suggest something, please.

Thanks!

I Need a Gift Suggestion for...?
As a former garden center employee, I loved pretty scarves with flowers, tee shirts with garden themes and slogans, garden books, garden themed stationery, garden theme jewelry, unusual garden ornaments from places where I could never afford to shop. Garden theme aprons, a really good tool, an unusual flower pot. Lots of journals and interesting books about gardeners and gardening out there that would be good gifts.
Reply:Depends
Reply:When I give a gift to someone who i do not know personally, i give some wonderful food item: baked goods, cheeses, fancy olives, in an attractive, reusable container, are just some ideas. If you bake or cook, something home created is a lovely touch. You are truly lucky to have access to a employee like that. These days they are too rare.
Reply:How about a personalized garden apron with big pockets. Even though she could possibly buy one a the store it would be nice to have one that is personal from you. You can buy an apron almost anywhere, and either have it embroidered or perhaps get a heat transfer from the craft store. I received one as a gift and I love it and use it all the time.

Last year when a new nursery opened in my neighborhood, I went to go check out what they had. When I asked for a certain kind of plant that she did not carry. It gave me a great idea for a welcome to the neighborhood gift. I brought her a small blooming Hoya from my own collection with some cuttings from a few rarer ones that I have collected through the years. Hoyas are like potato chips, you can't ever have just one! She had never worked with them before and she was so excited and was glad that the locals were welcoming a new shop into the area.
Reply:An appreciation bonus. Unless you have other employees, I guess that would make them feel bad if you did not do the same for them.

But if you want to keep this gal, make sure you pay her well or someone will steal her from you.

Reply:Do you have a day spa in your area? If not, spring for a manicure and pedicure. You should be able to purchase a gift card or gift certificate, enclose it in a heartfelt card, and tell her enjoy a day to herself, she definately has earned it!
Reply:I think it would be best if you do the chores for her and then, watch a movie at home with you and your siblings preparing the food. You'll have less expenses while enjoying quality time together.;-)

Mothers Day Gift.?

I want to get my mom something for Mothers Day but I have no clue what to get her. She loves gardening but I don't know what plants she has or doesn't have. I was thinking of having a picture taken of me. One that is professionally done. But I don't know. I think it may be too late for that.

Does anyone have any ideas on what to get...or a place that can have my pic. done in like a day?

Thanks~

Mothers Day Gift.?
IF SHE LIKES GARDENING, AND YOU DONT KNOW WHAT KIND OF PLANT TO GET........THEN GET HER SOMETHING TO GO INTO IT.... LIKE A GARDEN KNOME, OR A BIRD BATH, OR FROG STATUE... SOMTHING TO THAT MATTER.
Reply:YOU ARE MORE THAN WELCOME. I HOPE SHE ENJOYS WHAT EVER YOU PLAN. Report It

Reply:Since she loves gardening, I would recommend getting her a complete gardening set. There are some available either at Sharper Image or Brookstone that are just awesome... They come with a nice pair of gloves, a complete set of tools, carrying case, and even a kneeling pad to keep your pants clean. I gave one to my mother 2 years ago, and she loves it!
Reply:I dont know where you live, but where I live we have this one hour professional photo place called blue kiss photo. I live in NC. Surely where ever you live has something like this. Necklace or

or rings are nice aswell GOOD LUCK
Reply:If your mom's a gardener, she probably likes seeing the fruits of her labor (no pun intended). You could create a collage showing photos of you from when you were young to the present time (to show how you've grown from a seed to a blossom). You can also frame a picture of the 2 of you together from when you were younger (or recently). Spending a day together doing whatever she'd like is a great gift. You could also get her some pretty gardening tools, a nice mat for kneeling, quality gardening gloves, a pretty straw hat, hand-painted pot, or a nice watering can. You could also write her a letter telling her what she means to you.
Reply:In my opinion, snapshots (good ones, that is) are better than professional portraits anyway, so why not have a pal take a picture of you in a natural setting... maybe your mom's flower garden??? And put it in a cool frame for her. Or better yet, find an old picture of you and your mom, and have it enlarged (you can have it done in a day at your local drug store, or even Wal-Mart). Then, frame it in something that reflects her personality. You could go to Hobby Lobby, or somewhere like that, and pick up a cute, garden themed frame...
Reply:the Picture People would have photos ready in an hour if that is what you want to do. You can buy a nice fram to put it in too. Since she likes gardening, what about a basket with gardening gloves, an apron, a few packets of seeds, a new spade, a fresh bouquet of flowers and a letter about how much she has meant to you growing up. Good luck!
Reply:Spend time with her, doing something she likes to do. That is the BEST gift you can give to any parent. It's what they would like the most, in most cases.
Reply:When you ask a question you have the ability to see others that have already been asked just like the you want to ask.
Reply:Get her gardening tools and gloves so she can plant what ever she whants.
Reply:Are you kidding? This is your mom. It doesn't HAVE to be something material. Start simple...take a piece of paper...write down how you feel about her...how important is she to you...Nooo! try harder...dig into your heart...if how you feel in the deepest part of you doesn't bring a tear to your eye, you're not there yet.

Now, buy a nice card and write a nice letter and put it in the card. It might be the best thing she's recieved on Mother's Day.

Good luck!
Reply:i think if you take her out for the day. a meal, theatre and take photos yourself. shell have pictures of you two together and be able to relate the day forever
Reply:I too love my flower garden but it doesn't matter what or how many plants I have, I LOVE getting more. Get her a patio pot or hanging pot of flowers. I'll bet she will be sooo pleased.
Reply:I personally think its always great to give Mums a personalized gift. You know, a photo of you on a homemade frame (i.e. made of beads, cardboard , etc.). Personalized gift is the best way to go, unlike frames you easily buy over the counter. Its the effort and the impression that you make that goes along with the gift that's what really matters. Even expensive gifts don't mean much.
Reply:it depends. if ur mom is a gud cook then u can gift her a cookery book. if she's a good reader buy a her any novel written be her fave author. if she ud eater then gift her dinner.

if she is a person who likes outings then u can try takin er to a green countryside place.

all the best!!
Reply:Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:

Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!

The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.

Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.

Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.

This is a really beautiful poem too!

Women have strengths that amaze us.

They carry children, they carry hardships, they carry burdens but they hold happiness, love and joy.

They smile when they want to scream.

They sing when they want to cry.

They cry when they are happy and laugh when they are nervous.

They fight for what they believe in.

They stand up for injustice.

They don't take "no" for an answer when they believe there is a better solution.

They go without new shoes so their children can have them.

They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.

They love unconditionally.

They cry when their children excel and cheer when their friends get awards.

They are happy when they hear about a birth or a new marriage. Their hearts break when a friend dies.

They have sorrow at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left.

They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart.

Women come in all sizes, in all colors and shapes.

They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you to show how much they care about you.

The heart of a woman is what makes the world spin!

Women do more than just give birth.

They bring joy and hope.

They give compassion and ideals.

They give moral support to their family and friends.

Women have a lot to say and a lot to give.

Reply:How about taking your mom out to lunch (your treat) and then to get a manicure and facial together. Your mom would probably love a picture of you done professionally but I'm afraid you are correct that they wouldn't be able to do it in such short notice. Good luck to you and God Bless.
Reply:i think you should help your mom in gardening that day and like when she wakes up you can make her some great coffee and you can help her in her work you can make her a mother's day card or search the net for greetings and send it to her id,and you can buy her some plants or but some gardening supplies because she likes gardening does'nt mean u have to give her something related to gardening u can do all house chores and leave her nothing else to do and u can buy her a bauquet of flowers or if ur mom likes pets u can buy her a dog.anyways good luck!!!!!

Which gift?

uuuug! I do not know what to get my dads girlfriend. She says she does not want any calenders. She loves cats and chocolate. But I just cant find the right thing .Oh yeah she likes plants to. What should I get her?

Which gift?
Plants are always good. Any garden center would have information on the right plant for her. Any place with a garden center would have nice plants(like most chain discount stores which are large enough). Christmas cactus's are nice. They also are easy to care for.

If she likes cats and has one buy her cat some toys. However, I would suggest you concentrate on her. What is your relationship with her like? I suppose it is good if you are buying something for her for Christmas.

It also depends on your budget. How much do you want to spend. Sometimes you can start cuttings from other plants, or if you know what kind of plants she likes how about getting her a pot, some peat pellets, and some seeds.
Reply:get her a gift card which has a Credit Card logo on it saves the problem and she can get what she wants
Reply:try finding out what she likes from ur dad.
Reply:if she has a cat then get her cat a cat toy
Reply:i go with chocolate but plants grow so i guess that's better i guess cats are expensive to you
Reply:Just get anything within ur budget. I'm sure she'll love it as much as u do.
Reply:go to the chocolate store and see if they have any chocolate cats or there is always just a nice plant
