What is the coolest mothers day gift you have ever recieved?

Trying to find a neat and different idea for Mom this year. She is retired, has everything she ever wanted, and no real hobbies except gardening, and I live several states away, so plants or trees are kinda out of the question.

What is the coolest mothers day gift you have ever recieved?
Having never received one as you can readily tell, I can only share stuff I thought my mom liked.

Stuff I got for her that I thought she would like often ended up stored away for posterity somewhere. The stuff that I saw she put in places she could see anytime were things where I put some "heart" into it.

Some examples are: souveniers I got for her while on trips abroad where she could see I was thinking about her even while I was busy with many other things. A small trophy for "world's best mom." A framed poem about how much I appreciated the things she taught me, and another one about the hard times in her life when she sacrificed so I could have, and another about "now I understand what she was trying to explain." And other things that let her know how much I appreciated and loved and thought about her a lot.

Maybe consider sending her your answer to the "hereafter" question with things about her too? Anyway, just my opinions.
Reply:I'm asking the same question.

It seems like no one's on tonight.

I think I'm going to do a balloon and put a picture and confetti in it.

Does anyone know of any plants/flowers called angela? If so where can you find it?

I am asking this on behalf of a friend who is looking for a gift for his partner

Does anyone know of any plants/flowers called angela? If so where can you find it?
Angela (HMusk x K) The cupped silvery pink, semi-double flowers carried in trusses continually and have fruity scent. Plant is vigorous and open with shiny lime-green foliage, which blend nicely with the flowers and has good shade tolerance; will benefit from good fertile soil for summer-long beauty. 5-7', Z-5, B

Reply:could you mean angelonia? It's also called "summer snapdragon". Check your local nurseries.

Will you accept my gift?

Note:Please read whichever you like, so please don't complain about the lentgh! It's optional!

Hi.I live in Iran and I'm 18.I've translated these Iranian pop songs by myself..This singer's albums were chosen as the best pop music for the best and the most meaningful lyrics and the best melody in the Europe. It's somehow similar to the "believe" album by Cher.If you like to listen to them just e-mail me and I'll send them to you in no time.Cos I'd sent them to 11 Americans and I don't need to attach them again. They all loved them.

First:(mahboobeye shab)

when the night steps in the gardens, the flowers cannot breathe

when the darkness rains (comes down) from the sky, the blooms become sad

when the darkness doesn't allow the flowers to breathe, the "love flower" stays awake at night

she (the love flower) doesn't allow the night to have any effects on her, her smell can be felt even at the other side of the gardens

if (someone) puts the love flower in a vase, and plants thistles all around her

(even) if (someone) walls up all around her body (existence), (even) if everyone accuses all of her fibers

(even with all these difficulties) the smell of the love flower makes its way to the beyond of all the stone walls

(and) the love flower, has a shelter in the heart of the blooms

at nights when the flowers are sitting in the darkness, and they all have closed their eyes because of the horrer of the night

(and) when their body trembles becuase of the fear of the darkness, you "lover flower" are the shelter for them

Second:(yaade man baash)

you left (me) and your memories have sat down in my mind

without you I'm the prisoner of the impossible wishes (ambitions)

you didn't keep me in your memory (you didn't think of me) but, I broke in the memory of you

I didn't fall in love with anyone but you, (because) you're far from me

sing with me and think of me, think of me (keep me in your memory) without any excuses

when the moon is awake, think of me with all your love

if you be (with me), it is possible to pass the (unfortunate) events

and) it is possible to learn how to burst into flames, in the fire of your love)

if you're away (from me), if you're not (with me), (at least) be the breath of my cry

till the end of the world, forever, keep me in your memory (think of me)

Third:(Tasavvor kon)

Imagine.Even if it is hard to imagine.a world where each person is truly fortunate!Imagine a world where money, race, and power have no place!a world where riot police is not the answer to the calls for unity!a world with no nuclear bombs, no artillery, and no bombardments!a world where no child will leave his legs on land mines!Everybody free, totally free! no one in pain, no pain! You wouldn't read in newspapers that whales committed suicide!Imagine a world with no hatred, no gunpowder,no cruelty of arrogant, no fear, no coffin!Imagine a world filled with smile and freedom!full of flowers and kisses! Filled with up-growing improvements!Imagine! Even if it is a crime to imagine so!even if you'd lay down your life on this!Imagine a world where prison does not exist in reality, where all wars of the world are included in ‘The Ceasefire Treaty'!!a world where nobody is ‘The Boss' of the world!people are all equal! Then each person will have an equal share in each single seed of wheat! No border, no boundaries – motherland would mean the entire world!imagine you could be the interpretation of this dream!

Forth:(Booseye Baad)(club mix)

The kiss of the autumnal wind whispers to the lonely leaf unmercifully that you'll be the victim of the autumn

The new green leaf loses its green color, it drowns in the kisses of the wind and the horror of the new days

It (the leaf) abandons the tree and wanders around in the alley (becomes homeless), an alley that is the reminder of the gone and futile days

It (the leaf) sits down in the corner of the alley, stares up at the sky, thinks of the past, and feels pity for it (with sadness)

(It thinks of) the days that the alley was under my body's shade, and the kind lover tree, loved the smell of my breath so much

My share of the wind's kiss, what can I say oh my gosh, was all getting yellow-colored and faded, and dying and being forgotten

Fifth:(Panjareh)

When at sunset, the rain hits the (window) glass

All the sadness in the world is in my chest

In the rain drops, my choked voice breaks (intrupts)

I don't want anything but a window anymore

I sit down behind this window and sing

I wait for your arrival under the rain

Under the rain, waiting for you is very different

Sounds like I love you more when it rains

Sometimes when you come, you put your head on my shoulder

You take all the sadness away from my heart

But this is only a dream, a dream behind the window (glass)

When I'm awake, sadness sits down in my throat again (I become sad again)

Sixth:

Defrost my frozen tears, open up your heart

Hear the voice of my heart, what have I done to your heart?

I wish in the last moment, you could read the love in my eyes

Your heart didn't hear my voice, you left (me) and stayed with a stranger

If someday I tell you this story that I've got used to you

My heart's lucked up in the prison of friendship, in your heart

If one night, I get to the truth, I'll become the lover God

(And) I'll say my secret to the star of the western sea

Seventh:

Hey actor, don't cry. We're all like each other

When we get up in the morning, we cover our face with a mask

Someone becomes a teacher and someone becomes a homeless

Someone becomes a song-writer, someone becomes a song-seller

The old life's mask is on our faces till night

The tears behind the mask are soundless as usual

Whoever you are, come out of the back of your mask

Don't talk about that fate, free yourself of the night's illusion

Draw the shape of an outlet on the cage's bars

For just once (in your life), breathe in place of yourself (It means don't pretend that you're someone else)

I wish it was possible for us to be ourselves (Not to disguise who we are) and that'd be enough

Even if it's as brief as a short glance or a breath

Until when (should we allow) our mask to talk in place of us?

Until when (staying) silence will be my roll in this show (life)

I want to sing this very song on the floor show so loudly

(I want to) tear my mask and cry out loud as if I'm myself (Not my mask)

Eightth:

The figure in the photo which is in the album is wet

I kissed your memory again, I've asked myself this unanswerable question thousands of times so far:

What makes the songs lifelike?

Its pulse is the throat of yesterday (It means my throat could produce a better voice in the past, so my songs were liflike)

I know that without you, my tomorrow will be the same grey color as yesterday's (grey color)

I'm thirsty like the sun and more landless than the wind, more immediate than the song, outspoken like a loud cry

I'm lonelier than silence, brighter than the star, I love more than ever, sing with me again

I open the eyelids of the window, there are murmers of the moon light in the lane

All the windows are silent, sounds like (everyone in) this deserted lane is asleep

I call out your name aloud noiselessly, my crying closes the window

Once again, the invisible hands of night closes the eyelids of my window

sorry, if it was too long. And also sorry for the gramatical mistakes. The rest of them are as beautiful as these, but I haven't translated them yet.

Will you accept my gift?
that is rubbish.

What's a good gift for mom?

Good lady. Not a lot of hobbies. Likes her plants, her grandchildren, reading. Any amazing books out there?

What's a good gift for mom?
maybe some nice stationary (even customized) so she can write letters to people and grandkids. noone ever writes letters anymore and sends them snail mail. they're so nice to receive and she might like the idea.
Reply:Yeah, like you said, you could get her some books, or maybe some jewelry or perfume.
Reply:Some perfume they love that.
Reply:Try making something:

Reply:Get her a picture book about the home town she grew up in. Some bubble bath too. A couple of plant stands for outside planters. "The Testament" by John Grisham was a good book.

Reply:Sounds like she would love a thoughtfull gift instead of an expensive gift. Try to look for something you made or something that is personal.
Reply:You should get your mom this book titled a "Message in a Bottle" by Christopher Sparks. He is a very good author he writes about life and romance. You should also get her a card. Get it blank and write something from your heart inside. It is the thoughtfulness that counts.
Reply:Get her a brand new swimming costume! She can take the grandchildren to the swimming baths in her new costume. The kids will miss swimming indoors in such miserable weather in December.
Reply:A good no, great gift mom huh... let's see visit these websites. I hope this will help you. This is an awesome website!

Good luck!

Caring for Bamboo Plants?

I have a 5 stalk Bamboo in water with rocks and keep it with plenty of water. My problem is that some of the leaves are turning yellow at the tips. What am I doing wrong!!! Please help.It was a gift.

Caring for Bamboo Plants?
Try this link.....
Reply:bammboo mainly need a planter, water and rock small ones

and here are some facts of bamboo

Bamboo is a group of woody perennial evergreen plants in the true grass family Poaceae, subfamily Bambusoideae, tribe Bambuseae. Some of its members are giant bamboo, forming by far the largest members of the grass family. Bamboo is the fastest growing woody plant in the world. Their accelerated growth rate (up to 3-4 feet/day (1.5-2.0 inches/hr)) is due to a unique rhizome system and is dependent on local soil and climate conditions.

They are of economic and high cultural significance in East Asia and South East Asia where they are used extensively in gardens, as a building material as well as a food source. In Filipino, they are known as kawayan, in Chinese as zhu (Chinese: ; pinyin: zhú), in Japanese as take (Kanji: 竹; Hiragana: take?), in Korean as dae or daenamu in Vietnamese as Tre /tʃe/, and in Indonesian as bambuu

There are 91 genera and about 1,000 species of bamboo. They are found in hot tropical regions. They occur across East Asia, from 50°N latitude in Sakhalin through to northern Australia, and west to India and the Himalaya. They also occur in sub-Saharan Africa, and in the Americas from the southeast of the United States[3] south to Argentina and Chile, there reaching their furthest south anywhere, at 47°S latitude. Major areas with no native bamboos include Europe, north Africa, western Asia, Canada, most of Australia, and Antarctica.

[edit] Mass flowering

Although some bamboos flower every year, most species flower infrequently. In fact, many bamboos only flower at intervals as long as 60 or 120 years. These taxa exhibit mass flowering (or gregarious flowering), with all plants in the population flowering simultaneously. The longest mass flowering interval known is 130 years, and is found in the species Phyllostachys bambusoides Sieb. %26amp; Zucc. In this species all plants of the same stock flower at the same time, regardless of differences in geographic locations or climatic conditions. The lack of environmental impact on the time of flowering indicates the presence of some sort of “alarm clock” in each cell of the plant which signals the diversion of all energy to flower production and the cease of vegetative growth. This mechanism, as well as the evolutionary cause behind it, is still largely a mystery.

One theory attempting to explain the evolution of this semelparous mass flowering is the predator satiation hypothesis. This theory argues that by fruiting at the same time a population increases the survival rate of their seeds by flooding the area with fruit so that even if predators eat their fill, there will still be seeds left over. The death of the adult clone, this hypothesis argues, is due to resource exhaustion, as it would be more effective for parent plants to devote all resources to creating a large seed crop than to hold back energy for their own regeneration.
Reply:minght be in a draft or by a heater.. also it happens sometimes. happens to me, but then grow new ones
Reply:Needs little water and try some light maybe.

Mother's Day Gift?

For an inexpensive present for my mother-in-law and mom I was thinking of getting some kind of nice plants or roses, representing each child they had. That would be 4 for mother-in-law and 2 for my mom. What you think? That sound thoughtful or do I need something else?

What is good gift for transplant patient in hospital?

I imagine says they have to be so careful of germs that plants are not allowed in their rooms. Any suggestions?

What is good gift for transplant patient in hospital?
No flowers, plants, store bought candy, stuffed animals or cards please.

Fresh fruit, flowers, plants, or cut flowers are barred from the patient's room, as these can carry disease-causing molds and bacteria. Because of the fact that the patient will be immunosuppressed, even a small amount of a pathogen might cause a life threatening condition for him/ her. I met a lady at my transplant clinic who had a kidney as well as a liver transplant. She had contracted some infection from somewhere (in spite of being very careful) and had a fever for 2 months! So you need to be careful.

In fact, if you are genuinely concerned, do not even visit the patient. Persons with symptoms of any type of communicable infection should not provide care or visit. Even if you do not exhibit symptoms like fever or coughing, many a times our bodies are "carriers" to diseases, and this can be harmful to the patient.

There are a couple of things that you can do though.

1) Call the patient or his primary care giver as often as you can. Talk to the patient, in person before and on the phone after the transplant, encouraging him or her. Lend your support - a ride to or from the hospital for additional family members maybe. Family members of the patient need help and support too.

2) There is always e-mail. Write as much as you want. Send the patient e-cards. Chat on Yahoo messenger if you can.

I received my transplant last year and I did not go out of my home much for 3-4 months. I did receive beautiful flowers (from friends who had no idea) but sadly, had to dispose them off. Most of my friends talked to me over the phone and to my family members when I was in surgery. I did not receive any visitors for a long time, but it was wonderful to talk to everyone and contact people over the internet.

Good Luck to your friend!
Reply:Cards and balloons are always nice.
Reply:just a card and if allowed a plant or fresh flowers, it will brighten their day regardless
Reply:well, the best gift that you could really give this person is support and care. Just visting if you can, would probably be the best thing for them. Also, plants are really good...some kind of plant like a fern or something that can be good for filtering oxygen and such would be great, and a card couldn't hurt either.
Reply:A good book,a gift certificate,a box of candy,an offer to bring a favorite food, favorite magazines to name a few.
Reply:Flowers and a personal visit. Flowers promote a cheery atmosphere and require no care and go away in about a week. This is especially good for those who aren't yet able to care for themselves. Don't go cheap. If you can't afford a dozen roses, send 3 in a nice arrangement of more common and cheaper flowers. Just make sure to ask if the recipient has any allergies. If allergies present a problem or you really can't afford them, start a get well card writing campaign and have friends and family all send cards. Then visit and read them so the patient knows how much they are cared for.
Reply:Just the gift of life.

My wife had a liver transplant back in 1999, and she died in 2004. All she ever wanted was thoses extra years so we could be together.

I Love You Suzan!! RIP Hun.

I Need a Gift Suggestion for...?

I would like recommendations for my favorite garden center employee. She's great! She answer every question patiently and frankly,. I appreciate what she brings to the workplace. Of course, she has access to all types of plants and garden things so, I was wondering if you all would suggest something, please.

Thanks!

I Need a Gift Suggestion for...?
As a former garden center employee, I loved pretty scarves with flowers, tee shirts with garden themes and slogans, garden books, garden themed stationery, garden theme jewelry, unusual garden ornaments from places where I could never afford to shop. Garden theme aprons, a really good tool, an unusual flower pot. Lots of journals and interesting books about gardeners and gardening out there that would be good gifts.
Reply:Depends
Reply:When I give a gift to someone who i do not know personally, i give some wonderful food item: baked goods, cheeses, fancy olives, in an attractive, reusable container, are just some ideas. If you bake or cook, something home created is a lovely touch. You are truly lucky to have access to a employee like that. These days they are too rare.
Reply:How about a personalized garden apron with big pockets. Even though she could possibly buy one a the store it would be nice to have one that is personal from you. You can buy an apron almost anywhere, and either have it embroidered or perhaps get a heat transfer from the craft store. I received one as a gift and I love it and use it all the time.

Last year when a new nursery opened in my neighborhood, I went to go check out what they had. When I asked for a certain kind of plant that she did not carry. It gave me a great idea for a welcome to the neighborhood gift. I brought her a small blooming Hoya from my own collection with some cuttings from a few rarer ones that I have collected through the years. Hoyas are like potato chips, you can't ever have just one! She had never worked with them before and she was so excited and was glad that the locals were welcoming a new shop into the area.
Reply:An appreciation bonus. Unless you have other employees, I guess that would make them feel bad if you did not do the same for them.

But if you want to keep this gal, make sure you pay her well or someone will steal her from you.

Mothers Day Gift.?

I want to get my mom something for Mothers Day but I have no clue what to get her. She loves gardening but I don't know what plants she has or doesn't have. I was thinking of having a picture taken of me. One that is professionally done. But I don't know. I think it may be too late for that.

Does anyone have any ideas on what to get...or a place that can have my pic. done in like a day?

Thanks~

Mothers Day Gift.?
IF SHE LIKES GARDENING, AND YOU DONT KNOW WHAT KIND OF PLANT TO GET........THEN GET HER SOMETHING TO GO INTO IT.... LIKE A GARDEN KNOME, OR A BIRD BATH, OR FROG STATUE... SOMTHING TO THAT MATTER.
Reply:YOU ARE MORE THAN WELCOME. I HOPE SHE ENJOYS WHAT EVER YOU PLAN. Report It

Reply:Since she loves gardening, I would recommend getting her a complete gardening set. There are some available either at Sharper Image or Brookstone that are just awesome... They come with a nice pair of gloves, a complete set of tools, carrying case, and even a kneeling pad to keep your pants clean. I gave one to my mother 2 years ago, and she loves it!
Reply:I dont know where you live, but where I live we have this one hour professional photo place called blue kiss photo. I live in NC. Surely where ever you live has something like this. Necklace or

or rings are nice aswell GOOD LUCK
Reply:If your mom's a gardener, she probably likes seeing the fruits of her labor (no pun intended). You could create a collage showing photos of you from when you were young to the present time (to show how you've grown from a seed to a blossom). You can also frame a picture of the 2 of you together from when you were younger (or recently). Spending a day together doing whatever she'd like is a great gift. You could also get her some pretty gardening tools, a nice mat for kneeling, quality gardening gloves, a pretty straw hat, hand-painted pot, or a nice watering can. You could also write her a letter telling her what she means to you.
Reply:In my opinion, snapshots (good ones, that is) are better than professional portraits anyway, so why not have a pal take a picture of you in a natural setting... maybe your mom's flower garden??? And put it in a cool frame for her. Or better yet, find an old picture of you and your mom, and have it enlarged (you can have it done in a day at your local drug store, or even Wal-Mart). Then, frame it in something that reflects her personality. You could go to Hobby Lobby, or somewhere like that, and pick up a cute, garden themed frame...
Reply:the Picture People would have photos ready in an hour if that is what you want to do. You can buy a nice fram to put it in too. Since she likes gardening, what about a basket with gardening gloves, an apron, a few packets of seeds, a new spade, a fresh bouquet of flowers and a letter about how much she has meant to you growing up. Good luck!
Reply:Spend time with her, doing something she likes to do. That is the BEST gift you can give to any parent. It's what they would like the most, in most cases.
Reply:When you ask a question you have the ability to see others that have already been asked just like the you want to ask.
Reply:Get her gardening tools and gloves so she can plant what ever she whants.
Reply:Are you kidding? This is your mom. It doesn't HAVE to be something material. Start simple...take a piece of paper...write down how you feel about her...how important is she to you...Nooo! try harder...dig into your heart...if how you feel in the deepest part of you doesn't bring a tear to your eye, you're not there yet.

Now, buy a nice card and write a nice letter and put it in the card. It might be the best thing she's recieved on Mother's Day.

Good luck!
Reply:i think if you take her out for the day. a meal, theatre and take photos yourself. shell have pictures of you two together and be able to relate the day forever
Reply:I too love my flower garden but it doesn't matter what or how many plants I have, I LOVE getting more. Get her a patio pot or hanging pot of flowers. I'll bet she will be sooo pleased.
Reply:I personally think its always great to give Mums a personalized gift. You know, a photo of you on a homemade frame (i.e. made of beads, cardboard , etc.). Personalized gift is the best way to go, unlike frames you easily buy over the counter. Its the effort and the impression that you make that goes along with the gift that's what really matters. Even expensive gifts don't mean much.
Reply:it depends. if ur mom is a gud cook then u can gift her a cookery book. if she's a good reader buy a her any novel written be her fave author. if she ud eater then gift her dinner.

if she is a person who likes outings then u can try takin er to a green countryside place.

all the best!!
Reply:Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:

Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!

The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.

Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.

Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.

This is a really beautiful poem too!

Women have strengths that amaze us.

They carry children, they carry hardships, they carry burdens but they hold happiness, love and joy.

They smile when they want to scream.

They sing when they want to cry.

They cry when they are happy and laugh when they are nervous.

They fight for what they believe in.

They stand up for injustice.

They don't take "no" for an answer when they believe there is a better solution.

They go without new shoes so their children can have them.

They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.

They love unconditionally.

They cry when their children excel and cheer when their friends get awards.

They are happy when they hear about a birth or a new marriage. Their hearts break when a friend dies.

They have sorrow at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left.

Which gift?

uuuug! I do not know what to get my dads girlfriend. She says she does not want any calenders. She loves cats and chocolate. But I just cant find the right thing .Oh yeah she likes plants to. What should I get her?

Which gift?
Plants are always good. Any garden center would have information on the right plant for her. Any place with a garden center would have nice plants(like most chain discount stores which are large enough). Christmas cactus's are nice. They also are easy to care for.

If she likes cats and has one buy her cat some toys. However, I would suggest you concentrate on her. What is your relationship with her like? I suppose it is good if you are buying something for her for Christmas.

It also depends on your budget. How much do you want to spend. Sometimes you can start cuttings from other plants, or if you know what kind of plants she likes how about getting her a pot, some peat pellets, and some seeds.
Reply:get her a gift card which has a Credit Card logo on it saves the problem and she can get what she wants
Reply:try finding out what she likes from ur dad.
Reply:if she has a cat then get her cat a cat toy
Reply:i go with chocolate but plants grow so i guess that's better i guess cats are expensive to you
Reply:Just get anything within ur budget. I'm sure she'll love it as much as u do.
Reply:go to the chocolate store and see if they have any chocolate cats or there is always just a nice plant

Bamboo plants care??

i got one as a gift %26amp;%26amp; i didnt really took care of it ...

%26amp;%26amp; it got all black %26amp;%26amp; nasty %26amp;%26amp; some leaves are yellow

..so i want to take care of it now i changed the water %26amp;%26amp; i cleaned them up my question is how do i take care of them any tips??

Bamboo plants care??
you don't have to change the water everyday. Every week or two is fine. Keep it out of direct sunlight. Make sure there is always water covering the roots. Thats about it, its the easiest plant to take care of.
Reply:You're talking about lucky bamboo right? it's a not like other bamboo

One of the reasons it has become popular is that it is so easy to grow. It does not require a great deal of sunlight. In fact you should keep it out of direct sunlight. It can be grown in water or in soil, and requires little care. Most often you will find it “planted” in a small pot filled with pebbles and water. Some people feel the water should be changed every week and others simply replenish the water as it evaporates. As long as the water is clean and clear, simply refilling the container will keep your lucky bamboo happy. Add a dilute fertilizer every now and then to give it a boost. If you have chlorinated or fluoridated water you can use spring, or distilled water to keep your plant healthy. Or simply leave your tap water exposed to the air overnight in a bowl to rid it of these chemicals
Reply:Its black and nasty? Maybe it could be dieing...Well you always change the water every day. And the plant should be in rocks, or stones.

Remove all dead or yellow leaves.

Gift for long-distance boyfriend help?

We're in a long-distance relationship but I still want to give him something [not too expensive] but really nice to show him I care a lot about him and that I love him and miss him. He loves music a lot. Which one do you think I should do?

1.) I created this little song for him.. maybe I can put it up youtube or something?

2.) Send a Christmas card... although that's just too simple?

3.) I so want to visit him but I don't have the money T__T. sob...

4.) Send a CD compiled with a couple weird rants videos and a little document of my life where I live?

5.) A band shirt...?

What should I do? Any suggestions?

PS. It's a given that we'll talk to each other and stuff...

Things to think about:

-Very up-to-date with the music world... basically has everything that has to do with music... so what if he has those music stuff already? [loves rock ie goo goo dolls, velvet revolver, meyer]

NoNos:

-flowers/plants

Gift for long-distance boyfriend help?
I've been in a LDR for 4 years now. I once sent my bf a shirt that i thought would look great on him and before i wrapped it i put some of my body spray on it and sent it. He kept it put away and didnt' wear it until the smell went away, he absolutly loved it. So i would say get him number 5 and just add a little something that is you. My bf got me an MP3 player not like an ipod something reasonable and he recorded his voice on there and then put some music in there for me it was great i liked hearing his voice. I also gave hims a CD and decorated the cover with our pictures. So anything that comes from the heart will work. Email me if you have more questions
Reply:hmm, I'd go with 2 for sure unless he doesn't celebrate Christmas (though if he didn't I'm guessing you'd have mentioned that, lol)....but a blank one so you can write your own message. It just makes it feel that little bit more personal.

that's what my GF and myself did last year (she's in North America, I'm in New Zealand) and we also talked on the phone on Christmas day....it was very nice to hear each other instead of instant messaging all the time :)

What are some ideas for a homemade Mother's Day basket~besides a card & flowers, when mom is diabetic???

My mom is diabetic, and she really don't do much or really needs anything. I am clueless about what to get her for Mother's Day, but I was thinking about making her a homemade basket with some goodies in it... In the meantime I started a little project with my kids %26amp; nephews~~planting flower seeds and decorating the pots etc.. and a homemade card with pictures etc... What would be good to put inside the basket when the person you're giving it too don't need anything, is really not into anything- can't eat chocolate...Don't lit candles, don't do home spas etc... LOL- NO JOKE....She has almost everything...lol... Her house is like a store...lol... I need some ideas of what should I buy... I can buy perfumes because she never get tired of those, I would get her a bottle of wine- but she doesn't drink... I don't want to give her a gift card because that looks ridiculus and it'll mean more if I get something myself.... Any help would be appreaciated... Thanks...

What are some ideas for a homemade Mother's Day basket~besides a card %26amp; flowers, when mom is diabetic???
Buy some kind of platter, don't spend much since she has everything, a round pizza pan will do, and get a set of towels, in her favorite color, large bath, small bath, hand towel and wash cloth.

roll them up, large on on the bottom, smaller one in the middle, roll the small 2 up together, make it like a cake.

you can add things around it, or just decorations, one time i pinned little aplique bitterflies, wrapped it in tulle, it doesn't even cost much.

go here and look

there are some ideas.if not can you get her an outfit, or go out with her.

your mom seems practical, like my mom, they are so hard, mu mother asked for filters for her ice maker in her fridge : )
Reply:You can get the kids to help make her some special diebetic cookies. Maybe some nice face wash and moisturizer (doesn't every woman need that?) Does she like coffee? You can get a nice BIG mug and some different flavours of coffees.
Reply:I was going to suggest candles and perfumed soaps and fancy bath salts..... maybe a nice CD. But i am wondering if maybe your mom is depressed. How about a book? Does she like to read? Happy Mother's Day!
Reply:ASDA
Reply:I saw something at a craft show that was cute...it was a bottle for wine (there was no wine in it, it was just a pretty bottle at this point LOL), and someone took colored lights and put in it. I am a mom, and I think that would make a great center piece.

Does she have any hobbies? I love to crochet so my sons (really their daddy since they are 9 and 7 LOL) know that a gift card to Hobby Lobby is always a safe bet. Last year they asked me what I wanted. I actually liked that because they cared enough to find out if there was anything I *really* wanted, you know? :)

What about going to somewhere like that teddy bear place and making her a teddy bear?
Reply:I had all the grandkids go to Michaels they had 40 percent off coupon this week and we did stepping stone mosaics for grammas outdoor garden or lawn. That way when they go to grammas they see the stones...it wont fit in basket.sorry!

Some kids did all stones and other did foot print or handprint.

what about some barcelet kits like from micheals she can make stone bracelets for grandkids...that would be fun for her and the kids.good luck!!

Mother in law blues?

I have been having trouble with my mommy in law and now hubby wants me to get a gift for mothers day.

I really want to make good with her so I wanted to make an pretty planter. I got the planter I just need to know what plants to put. I really want to make her day. Help please. As soom of you know she has breast cancer.

Mother in law blues?
My mom went thru breast cancer too. She ended up with a double mastectomy and she has been fine ever since. Just wanted you to know there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm not sure how to answer your question. I just want to tell you how awesome you are for doing that. I did read your other question and you are being a wonderful person to do this.

It is a lot to go thru and people have a tendency to do things that are out of character. Hang in there she will probably need you more than ever now. Don't forget about how your hubby is dealing with this too. Good Luck
Reply:If she has breast cancer and is undergoing treatment (chemo) I'd shy away from the flowers as the flowers may pose a threat to her frail health. Cancer patients undergoing therapy undoubtedly have a very compromised immune system and the pollen from the flowers may aggrevate any latent illness or allergies.

Instead, go with a silk flower arrangement or gift basket with her favorite movies instead.
Reply:Your hubby and you read like two peas in a pod ; ) Sorry to hear MIL is going thru a tuffy right now. This may cheer her up:

There are many things that can be grown in a container including a cut-and-come again garden of lettuce for the front porch or balcony. Your local garden center sells packets of seed that are mixed or seedling plants that include a variety of colors - very pretty, delicious, and health beneficial. What I mean by cut-and-come-again is that she should be able to get several cuttings from a container planting because once it's cut, it will grow back. In fact, you might make more of them while you are at it if your family enjoys fresh greens for salad...this makes a good gift for any occassion : )

If you decide to do that make sure the pot is clean and use good potting soil, the best is organic for vegetables purchased from your local store.

2nd part of my essay!?

all tiny things pointing to trust, and trust is honesty.

Honesty is also a flower, a magnificent, stunning purple flower. The meaning of honesty and the flower are both one in the same. You may not see this but when you really look deep in side the meaning of a flower and what they do for your life, it is miraculous. It is shown in statistics that a flower can improve your mental stability and your mood. The way the light bounces off a flower into your eyes and their elegant beauty enhances your spirit. In every culture flowers are an important part, look at Greek mythology for example; Iris was a very trustworthy goddess and delivered messages from the gods to the mortal world, and whenever a mortal died, in return for her faithfulness irises were planted next to their graves for her. Her honesty in everything she did led to her being trusted by the gods for their deepest secrets, could you imagine? And yet as a gift there were flowers.

Growing up honest can be very hard. You learn

Can anyone plz explain the meaning of this poetry written by Annie Louisa Walker.?

AND HOW DOES THIS POEM RELATE TO WOMEN IN 19TH CENTURY?( i'll realy apreciate it)

You cannot rob us of the rights we cherish,

Nor turn our thoughts away

From the bright picture of a "Woman's Mission"

Our hearts portray.

We claim to dwell, in quiet and seclusion,

Beneath the household roof,--

From the great world's harsh strife, and jarring voices,

To stand aloof;--

Not in a dreamy and inane abstraction

To sleep our life away,

But, gathering up the brightness of home sunshine,

To deck our way.

As humble plants by country hedgerows growing,

That treasure up the rain,

And yield in odours, ere the day's declining,

The gift again;

So let us, unobtrusive and unnoticed,

But happy none the less,

Be privileged to fill the air around us

With happiness;

To live, unknown beyond the cherished circle,

Which we can bless and aid;

To die, and not a heart that does not love us

Know where we're laid.

A woman or women are not going to give up their unalienable, god given rights, life, liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. They aren't going to change their minds about not listening to the hype of the world around her.

They just want peace and quiet to think about what is at hand, to continue to ignore everyone else, head held high, standing proudly. They are going to ponder about serious matters and then unleash their ideas, shocking everyone that didn't think they could do it. They just want a chance and they go for it, showing everyone who doubted them their true potential.

Reply:Verse one. No one can take away from us that which we feel deep inside of us as a woman. It is ours, it is private.

Verse two. Thought we are housewives with responsibilities to our families, we if we so wish, have the right to our own private world, our own private thoughts.

Verse three. Not in selfish thoughts, thinking only of ourselves. But to gather in our hearts the happiness that is called home, that which we have helped create.

Verse four. Just as the hedgerows receive the gift of rain, so we receive the gift of happiness which our families give us.

Verse five. We go about our homely duties, sometimes unnoticed by those we love, but are happy with our lot.

Verse six. We are missed mostly in the homes we help make, and it is those who will remember us the most when we are no longer there.

This is a beautiful poem, and should be dedicated to all of those loyal and devoted homemakers.

Hope this helps.

Bells of Ireland seeds?

i planted some to startindoors... i reallywant and hope they get tall enough to transfer in a bigger pot into a basket as i want them to be a birthday gift for my sis who is near stpatricks day... willl i have success and what do i need to do to make these grow well?

Bells of Ireland seeds?
I suggest you maintain temperature around 60 degrees. Also maintain a source of sun light. As the seedlings grow for the first few weeks add miracle grow potting soil around them. Do not cover any leaves, Make sure soil dries out between watering's. After seedlings get big enough to transplant. Remove them from container without handling plant. They are easily bruised. Place them into basket or pot filled with miracle grow potting soil. Follow same watering pattern do not over water. The soil I recommended takes the guess work out of feeding first started plants. This way they get what they need.
Reply:This is easily started from seed. Sow seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before last frost. Barely cover the seed as they need light to germinate. Germination may be slow (up to a month). To speed up germination, chill the seeds for two weeks (seal the sown seeds in a plastic bag and place in a refrigerator) first. The small plants can be transplanted outdoors once nighttime temperatures are above 40F. Place in sun to partial shade in ordinary garden soil and space about a foot apart. Bells of Ireland often self-seeds in the garden if flower stalks are left on the plants until dried. The dark colored seeds can be collected to save for sowing the following year or allowed to scatter on the ground. Small seedlings can be transplanted to other locations, if desired (although they may wilt temporarily until re-established).

When they come up leave them in sun as much as you can and do not keep them overly wet. Just keep them moist and sunny if you can. Feed them after about six- eight weeks with a half -strength food.
Reply:They are pretty hard to grow. The seedlings do great, once I tansplanted them they died, but that may have been the soil. They grow very tall, so I basket might no be the best option. Even as seedlings they are very tall.

1980 Dundee Mills. Inc Fabric?

My friend has this fabric from when she was a baby. I'm not too sure of the history, but instead the fabric it says 1980 Dundee Mills. Inc. I'm trying to locate this fabric for her as a gift, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. It has pictures of a bunny hiding behind a bush, another bunny trimming a tree in a shape of a bunny, a bear watering the flowers, another bear planting flowers in the ground, and also a turtle pulling a wagon. Has anyone perhaps seen this fabric or know where I can locate it? Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. (I tried to google the company, but I don't think it exists anymore.)

1980 Dundee Mills. Inc Fabric?
There is a Town here in South Africa which ic called Dundee I know there was a fabric factury there in the 1960`s but I really don`t know if it still there. Its in K.Z.N. and is not to far from Durban .I will make inquires for you and try and find out if they could help you.If google could not help then I don`t know if I can but I will try anyway.

OK, so that information won't help you *find* the material you're looking for. Try your local antique stores ~ many of them will have stacks of vintage fabric to look through! Tell the store owner what you're looking for, and your search may be shortened.

Why does prayer not have any affect on the outcome of events?

people study this stuff constantly, and prayer has no effect on the results, so why do god people still think it is effective? They say faith and god is mysterious and other excuses why god makes no sense. or maybe we just don't understand. So then god created a flawed being with intelligence to understand his world, but planted evidence to point to his non existence and decided to burn everyone who believed in the evidence he left for us and reward those who throw his gift of reasoning out the window and accept fairy tales as fact? Before you say that there is evidence of god, Know that there is not. It has been fabricated by those who wish to push there own agenda. Probably to get rich.Everything that is wrong in the world today, and through out history comes down to idiotic, blind beliefs in magical people who will reward/punish you. Why can't we get past this crap? Maybe after another 100 years of intelectual stagnance like the dark ages? **** but you god morons piss me off.

Why does prayer not have any affect on the outcome of events?
you have some serious anger issues I think you need to see a therapist about.
Reply:What you say makes absolutely no sense? Clearly you do not believe in god. Fine. Commenting on things such as that would take time and patience. Which cannot be easily nor effectively conveyed over an webpage. In order to understand thing like that it takes time to understand things fully.
Reply:A hundred people could tell me prayer has no effect and I would say, "really"? It would not change my opinion at all. I have seen my prayers answered. That is all the "proof" I will ever need.
Reply:cant say i hate to break it down for u, but there is evidence that God exists. prayer works too and patience is a virtue.
Reply:I would wager that any believer would state that it does, and rationalize any possible 'response' to their prayers as such. Doesn't matter if they get what they prayed for or not, there's no such thing as a failed prayer to them. If you get what you pray for, it's god's will! If you don't get what you pray for, it's god's will too! No matter what, god 'answers' one's prayers, because any and all results are interpreted as a response.

Great logic, eh?

ADDENDUM: You know, phrases like "you god morons" make you look like just as much of a dick as the people who're always telling me that I'm going to burn in their hell.
Reply:It does if you pray in the name of Jesus and live a life that pleases God.
Reply:Because prayer is another man made action of a waste of time.
Reply:Nothing fails like prayer.
Reply:who says that prayer doesn't have any affect on the outcome of events. i'll bet someone's prayers were answered. sometimes we might not like the way it was answered, but in the long run learn the wisdom of not getting the answer right away.
Reply:You have a right to believe that there is no God. But you have no proof.

As for prayer, I have seen prayer have an affect and a change on things. But you would only say there was no proof. But I don't need your approval to pray or believe in prayer.

You should state this question as your opinion, because you don't have any proof to back you up that has not been tried before. Just because you have never seen prayer have an affect on something, doesn't mean it hasn't. So again it is just your opinion. You are not an authority on whether prayer is effective or not. Why can't YOU get past it. Why does it bother you so much. If you don't believe, that is fine, your choice, but it could only make you pissed off if you had hidden feelings concerning prayer. Like maybe one of your prayers did not get answered the way you wanted, so no prayer is right in your eyes. Have a nice evening.
Reply:Okay, so basically the early Christians, a very weak minority, gave up all they had and suffered their entire lives %26amp; died horribly because of something they "made up" to get rich? How about if there were people that predicted several things (while being very specific about some of them) way before they happened and got it all right, that evidence enough?

And do you honestly think prayer is a shopping list? That's not how it works. You can pray for guidance and help, but it doesn't really work for making what you want come true.

And how is everything bad in the world caused by Religion? I guess I gotta blame my church if I get in a car accident or a hurricane comes around.
Reply:Why do you think prayer has no effect. Just because it's not the effect you want or expect doesn't mean prayer was not answered.

The only question to be answered here is this:

Jesus Christ, born of a virgin, died on the cross to save us from our sin, rose the third day to conquer death for us, ascended to heaven to prepare a place for us, and is coming back to get all who believe this.

Will you believe this?

Would you like to go with Jesus when He returns?
Reply:False hope is a followers best friend.
Reply:God is merciful and that is something you will need down the road of life.....
Reply:Where is this evidence of God you speak of? I want to see it!

I would also like to know why you are so "pissed off!" as you put it. Does it mean you are extremely angry? Why would that be? How can what a group of us Mormons (Or did you say morons?) believe possibly make you angry? Is it that we insist that there is only one God and only one son of God, through which you must be saved?

This is meant as good news, Happy news, news to be celebrated! It´s the message of How God loves us so much he will...

But you've heard all this haven't you.

How could that possibly make a person unhappy and even angry to the point of killing? I'm not referring to you in that, but that is what has happened to people of faith through out history.

Could it be that there is something heaver behind all this?

Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, That's impossible!

But then again, unless you know everything there is to know... Do you?

Just funnin wit ya?

Have a great eve.

I have heard people claim that God prefers you to be vegetarian. Those who feel this way...?

How do you combat this scripture:

Genesis 9:3

(God, talking to Noah and his sons) "Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you; and just as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything."

Seems like eating meat and the flesh of animals is not only allowed, but it is a gift from God Almighty!

I have heard people claim that God prefers you to be vegetarian. Those who feel this way...?
Who is their God? Not the God of the Bible who was in to BBQ and called it a "sweet smelling savor".

And then there is also this in 1 Timothy 4:3...

"...speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth."
Reply:(Mar 7:18) And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;

(Mar 7:19) Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?

(Mar 7:20) And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.

(Mar 7:21) For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

(Mar 7:22) Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:

(Mar 7:23) All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

1Co 6:13 Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.

Rom 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

1Co 10:25 Whatsoever is sold in the meat market, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:

Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

(1Co 8:7) Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.

(1Co 8:8) But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.

(1Co 8:9) But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.

(1Co 8:10) For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;

(1Co 8:11) And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?

(1Co 8:12) But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.

(1Co 8:13) Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.
Reply:Jesus was coming 2000 years ago to teach people stop eating mammal-meat. But have all the Christian listen to him ? all of the christian priests around the world are calling themeselves experts in reading and knowing the Bible, but they even dont understand, why he was coming....the essence of his teachings...How can you advance in evolution, when you are living like an animal ?
Reply:It's also said by god that he gives these things only to be used in times of need.

Maybe the people talking were hindu?
Reply:God gave us animals to eat!
Reply:The Bible depicts a world which was originally vegetarian. And the verse you point to specifically says that earlier, God had given the vegetables for food, and only now (after the flood) did he give the animals for food. Why did God change? It doesn't seem to be a reward for good behavior, because God just wiped out the whole planet except for one family. I believe it could be interpreted as more of a concession to weak human nature. God seems to have "conceded" after the flood that man is just not so strong. He decides not to destroy them by flood again, because obviously man is so sinful. That is the conclusion He seems to reach in the story.

There are some climates where meat-eating has historically been necessary for survival. God is perhaps saying here that you do not need to feel sinful for eating to survive. However, vegetarianism is an ideal, as seen from the fact that in the Garden of Eden, vegetarianism was the way. And in the Messianic Era, the animals are all at peace as well as the humans.

People in Biblical times ate meat very rarely. If you followed their diet, you would be eating mostly beans, grains, vegetables, and on occasion fish, and on a very rare occasion, some meat.

The Bible also makes it clear that blood should not be consumed. The koshering method sees to it that all the blood is drained out of the animal before consumption. And again in the New Testament, it is reiterated that even Gentiles should not eat blood. Therefore, why do you eat non-kosher meat? If you want to avoid blood, you really should eat kosher meat.

I don't know why everyone totally ignores this Biblical command.
Reply:God granted us meat and it is not like that he would prefer someone over the other because of what he eat.

But of course, eating meat or not make a difference and I have experienced it myself.

It said that you are what you eat. If you are a spiritual person, you might believe this is true. When you eat meat of any creature, you also digest with it the feelings of that creature it had when slaughtered. You take the anger and sadness.

To be more scientific, I once read that when you are sad, angry or happy, you release some kind of hormones into your body. Similar to the animals, and thus we take their hormones whether good or bad.

Vegetables and plants are different than animals. They are more calm if that's the right expression.

Anyhow, I know when I stop eating meat and be vegetarian for a while, I become more peaceful, more calm and have a clear mind.

If your peaceful and calm with a clear mind, then you can feel God better I suppose.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the preference is for you to reach God better, and not for God to like you better.
Reply:if GOD did not want us to eat animals why did He make them out of meat?
Reply:what r u bugs bunny...eat up
Reply:You have sharp teeth and flat teeth which qualifies you as an omnivour. Have a hamburger and go with God. :)
Reply:I have never heard that and from the scripture you have shown I would agree with you about meat being a gift. I am a vegetarian, but not because God prefers it, I just can't stomach eating it.

Anyone spawn epiplatys sexfasciatus?

i just got a pair as a gift, cute as a button, im going to try to spawn them if my discus doesnt eat them... they are in a 29 with some pencilfish, selawasi loaches and a juv, turq discus named Earl. pH is 6ish and there is a CO2 reactor and lots of plants, im just not motivated to set up a yarn tank which is how i spawned my psuedoepiplatys annularis, any thoughts?

Anyone spawn epiplatys sexfasciatus?
You can still provide them with spawning mops of java moss, and they should spawn for you. You could, if you wanted and felt motivated, remove the eggs to a rearing tank - because not many eggs will make it to adulthood with all those other fish. But, with heavy planting, you might get a few survivors. Load up on java moss and other plants, that's your best bet.
Reply:A nice big clump of java moss and they should spawn away in there, but I wouldn't expect any eggs to escape the adults, not less and fry or young to escape the other fish for any length of time. Great little fish, I have bred them several times and loved keeping them. Though I have bred about 45 species of killifish, I have never had any significant luck with keeping fry in a community tank.

Why do people make their life so unhappy and difficult?

To be given life is the ultimate gift. When we are first born we have the right to cry or laugh. When we grow up we have the freedom to choose the way we want to be. Humans were born with rights equal to every other living thing but because of our unlimited desire human life is often of less quality than most other animals.

A small bird wakes up early in the morning singing a song waking the other birds, merrily looking for food, spending a short time to get all the bugs and grain she needs to fill her small stomach, then spending the rest of her time playing, singing, and courting. She spends a few days to build her beautiful nest. She doesn?t work too much to get the food she needs everyday. Her life is easy. She has a lot of time to play and enjoy living together with the other birds.

Humans have small stomachs as birds do. Just to have enough to eat we too do not have to work a lot in one day. If we want to build a house, we can build one in a few weeks. We can then have a lot of free-time in our life to play and enjoy life together as well. Now days people choose to work very hard, at least 8 hours per day. They work like machines just to have some food to eat even though the food they eat is not good quality. They eat the old plants and animals that have been dead many months in a can or in frozen packages. They have to live in a crowded house like a termite. If they want their own house they have to spend at least one half of their life or maybe all of their life to work for that house. Life is busy and hectic all the time.

We can see only complications with no space for beauty and freedom. We create suffering for ourselves because we don?t know the purpose of life. We are blinded and our soul turns to darkness. We can?t see beauty. We can?t enjoy living. We have only fear growing in our minds everyday. We begin to distrust other people. We cannot be friends with others around us, even relatives or family members. Our lives are lonely, even though the world is full of people. Even though we have a lot of material goods and wealth we still feel like it?s not enough. Even thought other people give us love, we still don?t trust them. We are even disturbed by the rooster?s morning call and we?re proud to say in the middle of this confusion and suffering that this is development and we are civilized.

Why do humans choose to live their life in a difficult and complicated life like this? What do we receive from our hard work all our life? Why is the simple and peaceful way not attractive to people? Life is easy, why do we make it hard?

If we think we are the most clever animal in the world, why do we make our life full of bitterness and suffering more than any other animal? Why do we have to work harder than other animals? Why do we make our lives so boring? Why don?t we have time for our kids and family or even time for ourselves? These are the instincts of all life. In 24 hours we spend more than 10 hours struggling with what we call work or said nicely, ?making a living?. We spend on average less than 8 hours sleeping and 2.5 hours a day eating, maybe .5-1 hour bathing/dressing. This leaves 3 hours left for ourselves and our family in our day. Mostly we spend this time intoxicating ourselves with entertainment such as drinking, going to parties, shopping, watching movies or watching TV. Even on our day off we love to spend the time on entertainment. We don?t see the importance of spending time with family or ourselves because we think we don?t have time. So we are not different from machines or robots because we have lost our heart and soul.

Our kids are like our pets. We take care of them enough to feed them and keep them safe but we neglect to think about their mind and soul. Kids want to be loved and cared for and to feel close to their parents but we think it?s a burden so we push them away by sending them to pre-school. Then we appease ourselves by telling ourselves we?ve done the best by them by giving them good food and expensive schooling so we can have more time to give to working and we can tell ourselves that we work for our kids. But we don?t know if the kids want what we give them or not. We assume we have given the best to them. If the kids know how to compare, they must be jealous of other animals like ducks seeing their whole family playing and looking for food together. But to be born as a human kid is so lonely. They become orphaned even though they have parents. They spend more time with strangers than their parents.

We are losing our instincts. We are destroying the system of life which our ancestors developed and lived successfully with for many thousands of years. Now we become the only animals that work this hard. Even in the past people didn?t work as hard or long as they do now except slaves and prisoners. What made people see slavery as progress or development? What is the reason people choose to live like this? Life is easy, why do we choose to make it so hard and complicated? What makes us think life has no choice when in fact we have a lot of choice?

Why do people make their life so unhappy and difficult?
Desire is the root cause of suffering. Desire for things one does not have, desire for things one cannot have. Desire for things that have been lost. Desire is nature's biggest motivator for progress and at the same time, the source of much of our pain. It's not just humans that suffer from desire, animals do as well. Its at the core of the natural world. The only way to escape the suffering caused by desire is to strive to seperate yourself from it. This is what is at the core of many world religions. It is the central tenant of Buddhism. In Christianity, the state of mind resulting from the temporary release from desire is called "grace" (not the prayer before meals).
Reply:An EXCELLENT and well worded question.

The reason for our contraryness to obtaining an easy life, firstly, is in the humans sense of self. This is at odds with anything else in the animal kingdom. Ego, alas, creates separation.

Further, our society is so constructed to make living an alternative lifestyle an almost impossible dream. We NEED to earn money to continue to exist in the system. Sadly, we cannot just go out and build a home in a few short weeks, as the land would be owned by someone else, there would be the needs for planning and building approvals (in most countries) -and subsequent land rents or taxation, otherwise, the government or others acting on their behalf would buldoze our new dwellings flat.

In short, we are tied into our prisons of misery by the monetary system. Sure, we could opt out, move into a forest and eat plants or bugs, but who would want that?

Our prison is entirely of our own making.
Reply:Abraham Lincoln said that most people are as happy as they make up their minds to be!

This is a sinful, fallen world...we all have a sinful, fallen nature. We choose to do the very things that aren't good for us or others. Like seeks like...even when we know better we can't do the right thing and it makes us miserable. Without God's help and salvation we can't make right decisions and will be unhappy and mess things up for ourselves and all around us!

Seek ye the Lord while you may! Choose joy! Choose life with God! John 3:16.
Reply:Well first off we spend so much time working in part because we have to put ever increasing amounts of money in other peoples pockets so there's less and less for us to live on and second we spend so much time trying to keep up with the neighbors or the guy on TV or whoever else tells us we're not adequate if we don't have the latest and greatest gadget or widget or whatever. Then we screw up our kids because we follow some bonehead who writes an equally boneheaded book and we end up having no idea how to actually be a parent and either try to be a friend to our kids which is wrong, parents need to be parents not friends or at least parents first friends second or they heap mounds of false praise on their kids which: when the kids go out in the real world and those heaps of praise are no longer there end up making our kids think there's something wrong with either them or the world around them which screws them up even more. What this all ads up to is we have screwed things up, badly and it may be more difficult to fix than we have time to do it.
Reply:Happiness is a state of mind but many people are just worried about keeping a roof over their heads no matter how modest and don't really have their heads turned by extravagant desires. Sometimes your choice is working two jobs or working 3 jobs to survive. You're right. That is a crumby way to have to live.

Why was this prewar intelligence ignored?

Iraqi scientist gave CIA information that should have prevented war

Saad Tawfiq told his handlers that saddam had shut down wmd program

By Agence France Presse (AFP)

Tuesday, February 05, 2008

AMMAN: When Saad Tawfiq watched then-US Secretary of state Colin Powell's presentation to the United Nations on February 5, 2003, he shed bitter tears as he realized he had risked his life and those of his loved ones for nothing. As one of Saddam Hussein's most gifted engineers, Tawfiq knew that the Iraqi dictator had shut down his nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs in 1995 - and he had told his handlers in US intelligence just that. Now in his 50s, a round-faced man with a small moustache and lively eyes behind delicate spectacles, Tawfiq described how the CIA set up an elaborate operation to recruit Iraqi weapons scientists and then ignored the results.

From the end of 2002 the US spy agency had sources inside Iraq's weapons plants telling them clearly what the whole world now knows - that Saddam had ended efforts to produce weapons of mass destruction.

Nevertheless, in March 2003 the United States and Britain invaded Iraq to disarm Saddam of this non-existent arsenal and in the process triggered the effective collapse of the Iraqi state, plunging it into chaos and bringing hundreds of thousands of deaths.http://www.dailystar.com.lb/article.asp?...

Why was this prewar intelligence ignored?
The Bush Administration willfully ignored any evidence or testimony that didn't fit into the big scary threat they wanted us to perceive in Saddamn Hussein in the wake of the 2001 terror attack on the US.

It follows perfectly the agenda of the "Project for a New American Century" (PNAC) whose members made up a vast percentage of the Bush cabinet and State Department appointments. They had envisioned American intervention in the Mideast, the establishment of bases, preferably in Iraq, and the robust projection of military force into the region to secure American national interests for the next hundred years.
Reply:This is new to you? Did you ever hear of the "Downing Street Memo?" It said that the U.S. was determined to attack Iraq regardless of the intelligence saying that Iraq had given up its weapons programs. This was just a way for Bush to get the war he wanted.
Reply:There was an agenda to make war on Iraq years before Bush was elected. This was mostly because of the HUGE influence that Israel has in US affairs.

Iraq was never a threat to the US, in fact one reason that US authorities thought that it would be easy to find WMDs was because they GAVE Saddam nerve gas back in the early '90s. However he probably used it all on the Kurds, or sold it to someone else as they couldn't find any.

No, the war was undertaken because Iraq was a threat to Israel, as is Iran. You note that there has been a lot of demonization of Iran lately? Same reason.
Reply:It's obvious you didn't watch the 60 minutes interview with the person who interrogated Saddam Hussein. Saddam wanted the whole world to believe he did have WMD and he had succeded in convincing about 95% of the world he did have WMDs. And he wanted Nukes. He also admitted he didn't think Bush would invade and when Bush did invade it was too late.

The US did have some intel Saddam didn't have anything. The intell from a lot more places and sources said Saddam did have WMDs. The bottom line is for every source that said he didn't there was at least a 3:1 ratio that said he did.

If the US had known for certain Saddam didn't have anything we probably wouldn't have invaded. But the US didn't know for (and here is the big word) CERTAIN.
Reply:Because Bush wanted a war. He was not working for the American People. He was working for Haliburton, Dyncorp, Bechtel, and Blackwater.
Reply:You mean like the fact that Russia is delivery 80 tons of nuclear materials to Iran and that Iran's crazy leader has threatened my Israel?? like that you mean..F.P
Reply:Cry Wolf!

Sadddam had been hinting that he had WMD for years. CIA/Bush?Cheney were conditioned to believe that he had them. Any other data could be ignored because it did not fit the accepted "knowledge."
Reply:I wouldn't call anything printed in the Daily Star..."intelligence".

Saddam himself was a weapon of mass destruction. Just ask any of the survivors of his blood bath.
Reply:Saddam himself said he was working on nuclear weapons and had chemical and biological.. I guess we should just ignore what the leader says and take the word of the scientist that may or may not have an axe to grind or may be involved in a misinformation campaign. We made the right decision regardless and now the country has a democracy.
Reply:Because intelligence is not absolute.

It comes in bits and pieces. For each piece of intelligence that suggest Saddam wasn't hiding something, there was probably intelligence that suggests that he was hiding something.
Reply:Because Duhbya and Cheney made sure it was ignored
Reply:Not positive of the validity of this article... but we already knew the theme was true.... that the "threat" of Iraq was .... exaggerated... a bit
Reply:I don't think it was ingored.

It was weighted against all the other information that was out there at the time.

Intel is not as clear as you may think and they look at many factors and not cherry pick the ones you want to get head of the line.

Besides which it is already done and there is nothing you can do about.

You also have to look at the Democrats who believe that Iraq was a threat long before Bush took office.

For your reference:

http://www.snopes.com/politics/war/wmdqu...
Reply:I don't think it was ignored...it just wasn't popular. It doesn't take much to get a whole lot of people spinning...good grief, look how people get so twisted about Britney Spears! Talk about UNimportant!

So, what do you think would happen in this country if word got out about something IMPORTANT: like, say that there are nuclear warheads pointed at us? How about that we have received information that Al-Quaida is coming.

Everybody would PANIC...and oh by the way, actually have the audacity to think that they're opinion would solve everything. (and that's just people that I know...eek -- I would hate to hear those idiot media pundits would have to say).

Truly, you can tell a certain group of people the truth with diagrams and pictures, and they're simply going to cry "Conspiracy" no matter what. Unfortunately, those people are still allowed to vote...and usually have the most children.

God help us
Reply:So Saddam should have just been allowed to continue his genocidal human rights abuses, for the simple fact that he had quit building the actual weapons? Brilliant. I should have thought of that before.
