Birthday present in a new relationship?

I've been dating this guy for about a month and a half. He turns 40 pretty soon (I am in my late 20s). I want to get him something for his birthday, but I'm not quite sure what to get. He likes plants, has a dog, has children, is into sports, loves to travel, likes wearing sweatshirts, likes sushi, loves to drink beer, and likes to chill and have a good time, and has a great sense of humor.





All ideas are welcome, I just want to make sure I give him something useful and practical...but also thoughtful.





Any opinions out there? I have an idea of what to get him, but I wouldn't mind hearing other ideas.





Oh and we're pretty humorous about the age difference between us, so a funny gift idea that pokes fun at this aspect of our relationship would be welcome too.
