I Need a Gift Suggestion for...?

I would like recommendations for my favorite garden center employee. She's great! She answer every question patiently and frankly,. I appreciate what she brings to the workplace. Of course, she has access to all types of plants and garden things so, I was wondering if you all would suggest something, please.

Thanks!

I Need a Gift Suggestion for...?
As a former garden center employee, I loved pretty scarves with flowers, tee shirts with garden themes and slogans, garden books, garden themed stationery, garden theme jewelry, unusual garden ornaments from places where I could never afford to shop. Garden theme aprons, a really good tool, an unusual flower pot. Lots of journals and interesting books about gardeners and gardening out there that would be good gifts.
Reply:Depends
Reply:When I give a gift to someone who i do not know personally, i give some wonderful food item: baked goods, cheeses, fancy olives, in an attractive, reusable container, are just some ideas. If you bake or cook, something home created is a lovely touch. You are truly lucky to have access to a employee like that. These days they are too rare.
Reply:How about a personalized garden apron with big pockets. Even though she could possibly buy one a the store it would be nice to have one that is personal from you. You can buy an apron almost anywhere, and either have it embroidered or perhaps get a heat transfer from the craft store. I received one as a gift and I love it and use it all the time.

Last year when a new nursery opened in my neighborhood, I went to go check out what they had. When I asked for a certain kind of plant that she did not carry. It gave me a great idea for a welcome to the neighborhood gift. I brought her a small blooming Hoya from my own collection with some cuttings from a few rarer ones that I have collected through the years. Hoyas are like potato chips, you can't ever have just one! She had never worked with them before and she was so excited and was glad that the locals were welcoming a new shop into the area.
Reply:An appreciation bonus. Unless you have other employees, I guess that would make them feel bad if you did not do the same for them.

But if you want to keep this gal, make sure you pay her well or someone will steal her from you.
