“Exercise: letter poem”
“Write a poem about someone who has disappointed you at some point in your life-
name each of the following, once in your poem:
one color of your choice
one musical instrument of your choice
one plant of your choice
one month of your choice
and the word- pigeons, or any bird that happens to work for the poem will do~”
I present this piece for your review.
Peace %26amp; Love,
Samantha
“Dear Dad,”
You are my father,
The one who created my life,
In my mothers womb.
You were gifted with us,
But chose drink instead
You hurt the ones you loved,
While your seed watched.
Crying at the damage you caused.
Young lives scared forever
while the black demon of drink took control
you followed his lead.
I cannot remember the sound of the gun
Louder then that of a frantic beating drum.
I cannot remember the sound.
The memories that I have to this day

I* did a poetic exercise piece, already submitted, what%26#039;s you opinion?
As I read this, I pull pictures from my memory of a man staggering drunk up the front walk, using abusive language, where when sober there is none. I see the horros of what so many see in their daily lives with an alcoholic. You captured the essense of the moment when he could no longer live with the pain he was inflicting on his family. Yes, you revived some memories, but you have also written an excellent poem to recount the event. Thank you for sharing.
Reply:well i am very sorry for the loss of your father
you might want to say %26quot;scarRed forever%26quot;
its ok...not great but ok
Reply:Oh, Sam, I%26#039;m so sorry you lost your father in this terrible way. It%26#039;s a very meaningful poem, one filled with emotion straight from the heart.
Reply:Another William Carlos Williams in the making. Great Job!
Reply:I got a chill down my back when I read it, seriously. Very touching and sad.
