Where does rafia come from?

I use rafia in some crafts and gift wrapping. I know it comes from a plant. But what plant? And what part of the world?

Where does rafia come from?
It comes from the rafia palm. The rafia I have came from Magagascar, but it can be grown in the US.

The rafia palm has some of the longest leaves in the plant kingdom.
Reply:I never knew raffia had so many uses! LOL Check out the link.
