Why Does The G. I. Bill have Term Limits?

Most Viet Nahm vets that I knew were not ready to go back in to a structured enviroment and wanted to have some time to get aquainted with civillian life again. Many of us went through several failed marriages and had Children along the way. Most of us returned to our jobs that we had before we enlisted or were drafted. So, our 10 years were over before we were ready to.get a better education.

Now, many of us have lost our jobs due to plant closings and lost our retirements. This is when we could use that Schooling the Government promised us. If you served your Country and you met the requirements then why were you not allowed to have a life time to use your G.I bill ? Think of the money that the government saved from all of the Vets not using it in their time period. I don%26#039;t care if a Vet is 99 years old they should be able to go back to school. If you give someone somthing and tell them to use it in a cetain time frame it really wasn%26#039;t a gift at all. What do you think?

Why Does The G. I. Bill have Term Limits?
Congress tends to put limits on many things it does. This allows things to expire without your congressman having to vote to remove some benefit they already given you. If you want it extended, don%26#039;t complain here, it will not do any good. You need to write your local congressman and have all your fellow vets do the same. That is the only way to get it changed.
