Anxiety is the gift that keeps on giving, isn't it?

I have the best of both worlds: Social and Generalized Anxiety disorders. When I am around others, I get the benefit of worrying about everything I say and do. I get to enjoy it before and after the fact. When I am alone, I get to worry about everything else including my social gaffs.

The anxiety never stops. Once I start worrying about something, I keep worrying about it. All someone has to do is plant the seed and watch it grow to massive proportions. I feel anxiety 24 hours a day. It constantly disrupts my sleep.

I finally understand agoraphobia.

Anxiety is the gift that keeps on giving, isn't it?
As you get older, and gain confidence in yourself, the anxiety will disappear. You know how some geezers have a "drop dead, punk" attitude? That's because they have reached a point in their lives where they can say and do what they want without feeling anxious about it. Experience=being able to be yourself, and knowing people will either take you or leave you without the world ending. Good luck!
Reply:I know exactly what you mean, it sucks big time. I am tempted to try SSRI's, they're supposed to help but I'm afraid of the side effects.
Reply:yea
Reply:anxiaty is not a gift but it can be helped and managed if you seek help with a qualified mental health profesional.
Reply:sounds just like me...i deal with it by taking anti-depressants, walking regularly (really helps a lot!)...sometimes i do become a recluse, i think it does help my mental state a little bit to step back from the world and stay in my house for a few days. eventually something forces me to get out...i run out of milk or need to fill an RX. having pets and a job to occupy my time helps, too. i hope you're seeing someone about your disorders...i hate to be all mom-like but it is important to get help. anxiety is tough, but there are ways to deal. you just have to find what works for you.
Reply:actually?? I have a total different response... I think that anxiety is good only when you use it for strength.. in other words when you are in front of a crowd .. it is normal to feel anxious... and to use that anxiety as a strength... I don't understand why you would worry so much, if no one is perfect... I mean we all make mistakes.. u should worry when you have killed or done something TOTALLY out of the ordinary.. chill out.. if you are anxious because of the way you are ... that is not called whatever you call it.. those are just insecurities of you.. but, don't worry.. I mean.. treat people the way they treat you...think about it... "what would worrying do'? do things the best you can.. and don't worry of what others have to say... if YOU are not comfortorable just try harder... remember this ... we have only one life, and there are other things that you could be enjoying instead of being anxious all the time.. God Bless
Reply:I don't like how anxiety feels.
Reply:I, too, had both types of anxiety. I suggest that you find a psychiatrist or psychologist. I have done some therapy and taken medication and finally feel like my real self. I'm also more confident and make friends much easier. But only a professional could help you to reach your best.
