House warming gift ideas???

Friends of mine just purchased their first house and I wanted to get them something other than just a plant or wind chime etc... They are a nice Jewish couple and they also are expecting their first child in december. I live in the Highland Park NJ area and wondered if ANYONE knows of a good JEWISH store I could browse around in??????

House warming gift ideas???
you should come to the centerpiece. they are jewish owned, but they don't sell judaica exclusively. there is a nice mix of styles and prices and the boutique focuses primarily on gifts so i am sure you will find something. they carry michael aram, nambe, michael wainwright, annie glass, and lots of other well known and locally recognized artists. also, the staff is amazing; they have great gift ideas and wrap everyting beautifully. they also have given good recomendations on other stores in the area when they didnt have exactly what i was looking for.
Reply:If they don't have one up yet, how about a pretty wreath for their front door?
Reply:Gift cards!
Reply:gift certificates are always a good idea, sorry i don't know of any jewish stores, but maybe you can find an online store and get them a giftcard from that! : ) maybe.......happy shopping..... : )
Reply:well, i may not provide you with a jewish store in NJ but i can give you some other options that you give a try in considering,

Have you tried in going to a Hallmark store. They sell lots of cute gifts there.
Reply:i've been told that a box/bottle of washing powder or liquid is supposed to bring good luck,,supposedly when the bubbles come when they wash
Reply:I'm not from the area, but here is the contact information for two local Judaica shops. Also synagogues tend to have gift-shops so you can try looking there.

A traditional Jewish gift for a couple moving into their new home is a mezuza (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mezuza). Another suggestion might be a nice picture frame to hang in the in their new home (they might put a picture of the baby in it when the time comes). Often Judaica shops also sell books and games for children/babies.

But if you don't know the families style, it is always safe to give them a gift certificate.
Reply:Look at these items.

The hand painted washing cups are very nice.
Reply:What about something nice in crystal.
